As usual, I was browsing www.sinchew.com.my , reading news.
I tumble upon this article.
After I read it,
I was shocked and angry.
I was also curious, so I searched for that group at Facebook.
And here it is.
I cannot believe the comments that I read there.
What is wrong with these people?!
Some of the group members declared that they are not racists,
but they think that if you came to their country,
you should learn their language.
And may I ask, is that a rule?
They said that when they are waiting in a line,
they hate it when people are NOT speaking in English,
because they can't understand them.
Their reason is, why hide what you are saying?
Excuse me, Jerks, why should I not speak my mother tongue when I'm with my friends and family?
Why do I have to speak the official language of the country depending where I am?
Oh, for the love of god, does speaking in another language means that I'm hiding something?
Honestly,
I pity those people,
because they are so narrow minded.
The world does not contain only English,
yes, one cannot deny that English in an international language,
and one of the most widespread language ever spoken,
but English is NOT the most important language to every single person in the world.
Think wisely, people!
The phrase "everyone speaks English" is indeed a nonsense.
ReplyDeleteMore people speak Mandarin Chinese than English.
You might as well say "everyone speaks Chinese". Indeed, what a nonsense.
Why not decide on a neutral non-national language, taught worldwide, in all nations? As a native English speaker, I would prefer Esperanto :)
