Let me tell you a story.
Lauren has been learning the piano for ten years.
She started since she was six.
Playing the piano wasn't her hobby,
reading was much more fun than playing the piano.
But she's played the piano for ten years.
When Lauren was seven,
she was asked by her parents if she wanted to have her own piano.
Lauren was excited.
The idea of having her own piano was unbelievable to her,
to own something that was heavier than her.
She said yes to her parents.
Her parents made her promise that she must treat learning the piano as a serious thing.
And she promised.
She had kept her promise for ten years.
But she wasn't happy.
Sometimes she question herself,
what was the point of learning the piano?
In those ten years,
Lauren found out that her family didn't really listen to what she played.
There were times when she asked her family about a song that she has played for weeks,
asked them if they liked it,
but they weren't aware that the melody has been lingering in the household for weeks.
How disappointing.
Lauren used a different path.
She played songs that she knew that her family already liked.
However, she never saw the enthusiasm that she was expecting.
Never.
Sometimes Lauren did have her family's attention when she was playing the piano,
only when they wanted her to be quiet.
She had their attention only when they wanted silence.
What's the purpose of Lauren's promise that she has kept for ten years?
What do you think about the story?
Was it weird?
